1. The Silent Corner by Dean Koontz (Bantam, fiction, on sale June 20)

What it’s about: Rogue FBI agent Jane Hawk finds herself in danger when she uncovers the conspiracy behind her husband’s suicide.
The buzz: This is the start of a new series for Koontz, best known for his best-selling Odd Thomas thrillers.

2. Dangerous Minds by Janet Evanovich (Bantam, fiction, on sale June 20)

What it’s about: Emerson Knight and Riley Moon return in this mystery, looking for a Buddhist monk’s island that has disappeared without a trace.
The buzz: The first book in the series, last year’s Curious Minds, landed at No. 5 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list.

3. The One Device: The Secret History of the iPhone by Brian Merchant (Little, Brown, non-fiction, on sale June 20)

What it’s about: A look at the portable device that has changed all our lives; coincides with the iPhone’s 10th anniversary.
The buzz: “A thoughtful portrait of how a piece of reigning technology became ubiquitous in just a decade, for good and ill,” says Kirkus Reviews.

4. The Force by Don Winslow (William Morrow, fiction, on sale June 20)

What it’s about: A highly decorated NYPD detective sergeant wants to be a good cop, but he’s pulled into a corrupt ring that deals in stolen drugs and cash.
The buzz: An “epic novel of devastating moral complexity,” says Publishers Weekly in a starred review.

5. Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe (Gallery Books, fiction, on sale June 20)

What it’s about: Two women of different generations come together in this tale of a young artist named Heather who rents a beach house one summer.
The buzz: This is the latest in Monroe’s best-selling Beach House series.
