What's The Difference Between Semi Electric And Full Electric Hospital Bed?

Medical beds, also called home hospital beds are designed for the comfort and well-being of people who are elderly, disabled, or chronically ill; they are also made for users with limited mobility or for those on bed rest after a hospital stay. There are 3 main types of medical beds: manual, semi-electric, and fully electric. This article clearly defines the differences between full-electric hospital bed and semi-electric hospital bed.

What Is A Full-Electric Hospital Bed?

Electric motor controls are used to raise the head, feet, and height of the bed frame with the push of a button on a full electric hospital bed for home use. A hospital-style electric bed is the ideal choice for anyone who needs a bed at home, in a hospital or nursing home.

The Full-Electric Hospital Bed has 3 primary functions:

● Headrest adjustable by hand control(Electric)

● Footrest adjustable by hand control (Electric)

● Height adjustable of bed platform by hand control (Electric)

The convenience of a Full-Electric Bed is ideal but it also adds to the cost so may not be the right choice if not all functions need to be electric.

What Is A Semi-Electric Hospital Bed?

Beds with semi-electric motors use them for head and foot adjustments, but not for height adjustment. Using the electric controls, the user can adjust the head and foot of the bed, but the height of the bed must be adjusted by a manual crank.

The Semi-Electric Hospital Bed has 3 primary functions:

● Headrest adjustable by hand control(Electric)

● Footrest adjustable by hand control (Electric)

● Height adjustable of bed platform by hand crank (Manual)

Semi-Electric Home care beds still offer the convenience of a pendant control to operate both the head and foot adjustments of the bed but the bed platform height must be adjusted by hand crank.  If the overall bed height does not need to be frequently adjusted, this option will offer some savings for the buyer.

Differences between full-electric and semi-electric hospital bed

The main difference between the Full Electric and the Semi Electric hospital beds are the height adjustment from the floor to the top of the mattress. The All Electric beds use an electric hand control to adjust the head, feet and height of the bed whereas the Semi Electric bed uses an electric hand control to adjust the heat & foot of the bed and the height adjustment is with a manual crank.
