Why is PACS system integration so difficult

Let's talk about the considerations for integrating the physical examination system with the PACS system.

Let's talk about the considerations for integrating the physical examination system with the PACS system.
Firstly, everyone needs to consider the scope of use of the system. The medical examination system is a system that integrates the project results of various departments and issues comprehensive medical examination reports. The designed structure and various signs are relatively comprehensive.
The PACS system is a professional system that is suitable for various types of examination services such as physical examinations, outpatient visits, and hospitalizations. This creates a situation where physical examinations are different from outpatient services, with the most prominent issue being the need for examinees to take multiple images of different parts simultaneously.
There are two methods for handling the issue of multiple parts being photographed by the same examinee. One is for the examination system to register multiple parts in the same group item, and the PACS system to generate a report corresponding to it; Another approach is to separate multiple sets of items and have the PACS system generate separate reports.
These two processing methods need to be determined through consultation between the physical examination center and the imaging department, which may result in adjustments to the working mode.
Secondly, the operating habits and template usage of PACS doctors should be communicated with the medical examination center and consistent with the medical examination business. In practical work, I have seen many cases where PACS systems have positive sign identification, but the operating doctors do not use them, which can lead to inaccurate judgment of positive signs in the medical examination system even though it receives PACS reports.
In addition, everyone also needs to pay attention to the issue of modifying PACS reports after review. After the PACS report is reviewed, it is usually automatically transmitted to the physical examination system, and the chief examiner will perform the main examination work after the results of the examinee are complete. Therefore, if any modifications are made to the PACS report after review, it is necessary to notify the medical examination center, otherwise there may be situations where the examinee cannot receive the PACS report due to having already undergone the main examination.
In summary, when integrating the physical examination system with the PACS system, attention should be paid to the detailed plan and the integration plan should not be ignored to avoid data errors in the later stage.
