[Shenzhen, China, April 26, 2024] Huawei has been highly recognized by the international environmental non-profit organization CDP (Center for Global Environmental Information Research) for its continuous efforts in addressing climate change. It has once again been listed on the CDP Climate Change "A-level List" and has been awarded the title of "Supplier Participation Leader". Huawei has been ranked at the CDP Climate Change Leadership Level (A/A -) for five consecutive years. On April 25th, Huawei was invited to attend the "Embrace International Disclosure Standards, Expand China's Corporate Climate Strong Voice - CDP 2023 China Report Release Conference and Award Ceremony" jointly organized by CDP and the Shanghai Climate Week Enterprise Action Committee.
Huawei has been continuously selected for the CDP Climate Action "A-level Ranking", continuously improving its environmental leadership
Huawei adheres to the environmental protection concept of "allowing technology to coexist with nature", and based on ICT technology, focuses on taking actions around "continuously promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, increasing the use of renewable energy, promoting circular economy, and technology to protect nature", actively addressing climate and environmental challenges.
On the one hand, Huawei is striving to build resource-saving and environmentally friendly green parks, prioritizing the use of renewable and clean energy, continuously identifying low-carbon environmental opportunities in park operations, data centers, production and manufacturing, and avoiding resource consumption and carbon emissions from the source through technological innovation and management optimization. On the other hand, Huawei Digital Energy insists on using digital technology to assist in the transformation of renewable energy. As of the end of 2023, it has helped customers achieve a total of 997.9 billion kilowatt hours of green power generation, saved about 46.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 495 million tons. At the same time, Huawei is committed to establishing a business model of circular economy, continuously pursuing more environmentally friendly materials, lower carbon processes, greener packaging, more efficient transportation, creating more durable products, and reducing waste generation. In addition, Huawei collaborates with global environmental organizations, customers, and partners to actively explore the use of ICT technology to protect forests, wetlands, and oceans, and to use technology to protect nature. As of the end of 2023, Huawei has launched digital technology driven nature conservation projects in 53 protected areas worldwide, covering multiple endangered species such as Hainan gibbons, jaguars, Oriental white storks, Atlantic salmon, as well as various typical ecosystems such as tropical rainforests, coral reefs, and estuarine wetlands.
Huawei attaches great importance to the sustainable development of the global supply chain and has carried out supplier energy-saving and emission reduction pilot projects for more than 10 consecutive years. Through the annual global supplier carbon reduction conference, Huawei's carbon reduction strategy and action requirements are clearly conveyed, promoting suppliers to set green and low-carbon goals, and gradually increasing incentives for excellent suppliers.
Huawei Director and Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee, Tao Jingwen, stated, "Huawei firmly believes that digital technology is a key enabler for addressing environmental challenges, protecting nature, and enabling green development. Digitalization and low-carbon can drive and promote each other, jointly promoting the green development of human society. Huawei hopes to work with global customers, suppliers, and partners to explore the" optimal solution "of low-carbon and circular industries, and innovate to enable green development of the industrial chain."
CDP CEO Sherry Madera said, "Congratulations to all CDP A-level companies, as well as those that have started or accelerated environmental transparency in 2023. Getting a place on the A-level list is not just a score, but also a symbol of high-quality and complete data, allowing businesses to fully understand their environmental impact and, more importantly, to follow the baseline of the transition plan to achieve their ambitions."
