My old helmet with the non-changeable battery finally died. Even leaving it in the sun for a day didn't help, so I went to buy a new one.

The new one's LCD blinks when you wave your hand in front of it while looking at the sky. The guy who sold it to me said that meant it's working, but it won't auto-darken when I start welding. I replaced the batteries (since this one can do that) and it still doesn't darken when I weld.

Am I just having a run of bad luck or is there something I may have done wrong? I've turned the shade dial to 13, set the sensitivity to high and the delay to low. I've tried a mix of other settings too. Zero results.
